How we are managing Covid-19

at Back Tor Farm Holiday Cottages

We are keen to start welcoming guests to our cottages at Back Tor Farm again, as soon as it is deemed safe to do so, but there will be some significant changes in the way we operate, so that we can maintain the good health of both our guests and ourselves. The following FAQs relate to guests who have booked since the end of March 2020.

Given the uncertainty around how the easing of lockdown will progress, we have temporarily made an amendment to our usual booking conditions:

  • In the event that lockdown is extended or reintroduced, we are offering confirmed bookings the opportunity to amend dates once without incurring an admin fee.

We hope that this change and the additional measures we are putting in place with regards to cleaning and social distancing will reassure you that we are doing our utmost to make it safe to book and to stay at our properties. The FAQs below should answer most of your concerns, but if you have any further questions, do get in touch.

1. Can I make a booking with you?

We are accepting bookings for stays starting on or after the 4th July 2020, which can be secured with a deposit of 20% or £100 (whichever is greater), as per our standard Ts&Cs.

2. Can I amend my booking?

Amendments to any booking will be subject to our usual Ts&Cs, unless the government extend or re-introduce measures that restrict travel and make honouring your booking impossible. In this instance, you can amend your holiday dates once and we will not charge you for doing so. For any further amendments or cancellation, our normal Ts&Cs apply.

3. The dates to which I want to move my booking differ in cost to the original dates, what do I do?

Our prices fluctuate with the seasons. In the event that there is a cost difference between your new and original dates we will either refund (for lower prices) or ask you to pay the difference (for higher prices).

4. Can I cancel my booking?

Cancellation of any booking made after 1st December 2021 is subject to our usual Ts&Cs.

5. What happens if government imposed travel restrictions are reintroduced and I cannot honour my booking?

In the event that government restrictions make honouring your booking impossible, you can either receive a full refund or amend your holiday dates once and we will not charge you for doing so. For any further amendments or cancellation, our normal Ts&Cs apply.

6. What should I do if I develop coronavirus symptoms while I am staying at Back Tor Farm?

Please notify us immediately if you start displaying coronavirus symptoms during your stay.  We would ask that you liaise with NHS 111 and that you drive home at your earliest convenience if you feel well enough to do so. If for any reason it is unsafe for you to leave the property and return home (e.g. if you used public transport to reach Edale) and you need to self-isolate there, you will be liable for the cost of any additional time you spend there.

7. What are you doing to minimise the risk from coronavirus?

We have adopted the following procedures to help us ensure the safety of all our guests:

  • Unless a guest is booking both The Nook and The Cowshed for their stay, there may be restrictions regarding use of the laundry/drying room as this is a shared facility. Guests will be notified of any restrictions on arrival.

  • Following guest checkout at 11.00am the property will be thoroughly ventilated, cleaned & sanitised ready for next guest.

  • Liquid hand soap will be provided in the kitchen, bathroom & laundry room to facilitate regular hand washing.

  • The farmyard gate to the property will be kept open during daytime hours so that guests do not have to touch it.

8. Are there any additional measures you would like guests to undertake in order to minimise the risk from coronavirus?

  • Your hosts request that guests exercise good social distancing practices with us and with our other guests.

  • Should the other cottage be occupied during your stay please exercise good social distancing with our other guests if you should meet them in the car parking area or generally outdoors at Back Tor Farm.

  • Guests are required to empty all waste bins from the house into the appropriate outdoor bins at the end of their stay.

  • To avoid our unnecessary contact with laundry, guests are asked to place all bed linen/towels/robes in the bags provided before departure.

  • Weather permitting, guests are asked to leave windows ajar prior to departure to promote movement of air.
